The Holistic Sanctuary Responds to the FDAs Recommendation for Tighter Controls on Painkillers

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 25, 2013

The Holistic Sanctuary announces its response to the Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) just-released report about the need for tighter controls on how doctors prescribe the most commonly used narcotic painkillers.(1) The recommendation, as covered by the New York Times, follows a decade-long debate over whether the widely abused drugs, which contain the narcotic hydrocodone, should be controlled as strongly as painkillers like oxycontin.(2)

At the same time, The Holistic Sanctuary emphasizes its sustained campaign to permanently end addiction to opiates in general, as well as other illicit substances, alcohol and prescription medications.

The FDAs statement comes in the midst of a national epidemic involving addiction, in which prescription drugs account for approximately three-quarters of all drug overdose deaths in the United States, quadrupling since 1999, according to the National Survey on Drug Use & Health.(3) In fact, Americans consume 80% of opiate painkillers produced in the world, based on findings compiled by the American Society of International Pain Physicians.(4) Even worse, every hour, a baby is born in the United States with symptoms of opiate withdrawal, as revealed by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).(5)

More specifically, antidepressants such as zoloft and celexa are according to the journal ACS Chemical Neuroscience the most prescribed class of drugs, with 264 million prescriptions filled, with another 131 million prescriptions written for the generic version of vicodin.(6) Overall, a record 4.02 billion drug prescriptions were written in the U.S. in 2011 (the most recent year for these statistics), up from 3.99 billion the year before.(7)

In addition, 31.9 million prescriptions were written for generic percocet, while 29.3 million were written for generic neurontin, which is frequently prescribed for long-term pain.(8) Dr. Janet Woodcock, director of the FDAs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, states: These are very difficult trade-offs that our society has to make. The reason we approve these drugs is for people in pain. But we cant ignore the epidemic on the other side.(9)

To further illustrate the severity of this epidemic, about 131 million prescriptions for hydrocodone-containing medications were written for about 47 million patients, according to government estimates. That amounts to about five billion pills.(10) Potential side effects from these drugs include: Swelling of the face, mouth, and throat, difficulty breathing, itching, rash or possible liver failure,(11) as well as a severe skin reaction known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), which can be fatal.(12)

These alarming statistics, self-described (by the FDA) as an epidemic, stand in contrast to The Holistic Sanctuarys safe, exclusive and all-natural efforts to successfully heal the brain and permanently end addiction to these drugs. Conventional rehab centers, on the other hand, often lack any controlled studies of their outcomes, according to Bankole A. Johnson, Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia.(13) Compounding the problem is the fact that many of these facilities do not even follow up with former patients.(14)

For Johnny Tabaie, Johnny The Healer, (see also http://www.johnnythehealer.com/) the Founder of The Holistic Sanctuary, eliminating addiction to opiates along with the combination of prescription drugs, which constitutes a so-called chemical cocktail is the essence of his safe, well-researched (and confirmed, through double-blind studies) and effective solution known as the Pouyan Method. This treatment pinpoints and reverses the root causes of addiction, restoring and rejuvenating brain cells damaged by drug abuse.

Most importantly, Johnny does not classify addiction as an incurable disease or a lifelong emotional albatross. His inspiring and diverse video testimonials from guests are a testament to this belief, proving there is an escape from the relapse-to-rehab revolving door of pain, despair and financial ruin. People can view these powerful stories at: theholisticsanctuary.com/Ibogaine-Videos/

The FDAs belated announcement does nothing to properly treat never mind cure addiction to opiates and other painkillers. We can already extrapolate from existing data, and predict that this epidemic will continue to increase, causing real harm (such as irreversible physical damage for a significant amount of people, or even death among thousands of people) with no attempt by the FDA or conventional drug rehab centers to stop this problem. The Holistic Sanctuary is, however, the sole destination where healing of the mind, body and spirit is real, consistent and permanent. We end addiction, period, while never using prescription medicines, outdated theories, attack therapy or other antiquated concepts. We heal your brain so you can heal your life, says Mr. Tabaie.

The Holistic Sanctuary Issues Response to The Irish Times About the Risks of Long-term Methadone Use

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2013

The Holistic Sanctuary announces its response to a recent headline from The Irish Times concerning long-term methadone use as a form of State-sponsored Social Control, as described by the papers headline.(1) This story comes amidst demands within the United States and Europe, where Irene Crawley, Director of the Hope project in Dublin says: The irony is methadone is an opiate like heroin and youre addicted to it. It is just as hard, if not harder, to come off it as it is heroin. (2)

This statement parallels The Holistic Sanctuarys commitment to permanently end addiction to methadone, heroin, subuxone, subutex, buprenorphine, oxycontin, vivitrol, narcan and other opiates, drugs, alcohol and prescription medications.

The article from The Irish Times overlaps with data in the United States, compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), revealing that almost one-third of prescription painkiller overdose deaths involve methadone. Six times as many people died of methadone in 2009 (the most current year, for which the CDC has comprehensive numbers) than a decade before.(3) In fact, more than 4 million methadone prescriptions were written for pain in 2009, despite US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warnings about the risks associated with methadone.(4)

The CDCs report is one of several concerning the risk of overdose from methadone, as part of the organizations Vital Signs study. Based on an analysis of fatal methadone overdoses and the use of opioid pain relievers (OPR) in general, researchers conclude that methadone was involved in 31.4% of OPR deaths in the 13 states. It accounted for 39.8% of single-drug OPR deaths. The overdose death rate for methadone was significantly greater than that for other OPR for multidrug and single-drug deaths.(5)

In addition, the FDA has gone so far as issuing an alert (Death, Narcotic Overdose, and Serious Cardiac Arrhythmias) about the severity of this crisis, stating: FDA has reviewed reports of death and life-threatening adverse events such as respiratory depression and cardiac arrhythmias in patients receiving methadone. These adverse events are the possible result of unintentional methadone overdoses, drug interactions, and methadones cardiac toxicities (QT prolongation and Torsades de Pointes).(6)

The enormity of this epidemic is part of a separate FDA report (FDAs Efforts to Address the Misuse and Abuse of Opioids), which corresponds to the information assembled by the CDC, bringing the number of deaths related to methadone and opiod drugs in a single year to more than 15,500. (7) The FDA also issued a draft guidance document to assist industry in developing new formulations of opioid drugs with abuse-deterrent properties. FDA intends to take a flexible, adaptive approach to the evaluation and labeling of potentially abuse-deterrent products.(8)

And yet, methadone addiction as well as other opiate-related dependencies continues to be cause for international worry. A London study from the Institute of Psychiatry at the National Addiction Centre, in which the authors interviewed and studied 351 drug users undergoing methadone treatment, further illustrates this point. According to the findings: The results raise serious questions about the purposes, the delivery, and the effectiveness of this form of treatment and suggest the need for a critical reappraisal of the purposes and effectiveness of this widely used form of treatment.(9)

These negative reports and repeated warnings about the dangers of methadone are a marked contrast to The Holistic Sanctuarys exclusive, all-natural and safe means of eradicating addiction and healing the mind, body and spirit. At the other end of the spectrum, conventional rehab centers elicit considerable condemnation. In a New Republic review of Anne M. Fletchers investigation of these facilities (Inside Rehab: The Surprising Truth About Addiction Treatment and How to Get Help That Works), she profiles dozens of addicts whose rehab experiences are, in her opinion unconscionable, including the case of Jessie who was kicked out of a facility because she had failed to accept a higher power. (I heard clients characterized as dishonest, narcissistic, and selfish, writes Fletcher.)(10)

For Johnny Tabaie, Johnny The Healer, (see also http://www.johnnythehealer.com/) the Founder of The Holistic Sanctuary, permanently ending addiction is his maximum priority, thanks to his safe and successful (as verified through double-blind studies) solution known as the Pouyan Method. This treatment targets and reverses the root causes of addiction, restoring and rejuvenating brain cells damaged by drug abuse.

Also, Johnny does not stigmatize addiction as an incurable disease or a lifelong, irreversible condition. His moving and uplifting video testimonials from guests are a testament to this idea, confirming there is an alternative to the relapse-to-rehab revolving door of pain, despair and financial ruin. People can view these powerful stories at: theholisticsanctuary.com/Ibogaine-Videos/

Methadone addiction is a toxic epidemic, which needlessly costs the lives of approximately 16,000 Americans each year from overdoses and fatal drug interactions. Traditional treatment centers worsen this problem by giving other patients a combination of prescription medicines the proverbial chemical cocktail which contain a multitude of side effects such as liver and renal failure, heart damage, pulmonary distress, mania, suicidal thoughts, depression and pancreatitis, among other dangers. We avoid these broken techniques and failed treatment modalities. Instead, we heal a patients brain so they can heal their life, says Mr. Tabaie.

The Holistic Sanctuary Rebukes the New Republics Attempt to Destigmatize Buprenorphine and Suboxone

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 02, 2013

The Holistic Sanctuary announces its rebuke concerning a recent column (The Media Needs to Stop Stigmatizing Our Best Weapon Against Heroin Addiction) in The New Republic, in which the writer urges his fellow journalists to reevaluate or stop their criticism about buprenorphine and suboxone.(1) Alec MacGillis, the author of the article, faults the New York Times for running their own (mild, in the judgment of The Holistic Sanctuary) two-day series about the toxic and lethal dangers associated with suboxone, as well as the overly aggressive marketing tactics of Reckitt Benckiser, makers of the drug.(2)

Mr. MacGillis also writes that buprenorphine has proven so successful at allowing opiate addicts to feel normal and go about their lives that advocates hail it as something of a wonder drug.(3) He concludes by attacking alarmist headlines about suboxone and subutex, saying: It would be deeply unfortunate if fraught portrayals in the media with decidedly oversimplified, alarmist headlines had the side effect of dulling one of the best tools we have in this fight.(4)

And yet, the column does not reference the straightforward, on-the-record dangers of suboxone, as documented by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The agencys non-alarmist headline, titled Information for Pharmacists, states: Significant respiratory depression has been associated with buprenorphine, particularly when administered intravenously. A number of deaths have occurred when addicts have intravenously misused buprenorphine, usually with benzodiazepines concomitantly. Deaths have also been reported in association with concomitant administration of buprenorphine and other depressants such as alcohol or other opioids.(5)

These threats go well beyond a single news story or government report, since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now report that unsupervised ingestion of buprenorphine-containing products by children is listed as a growing concern.(6) Long before this latest threat, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center for Substance Abuse Treatment warned about physicians who may lack sufficient knowledge to prescribe buprenorphine appropriately, or do not have the resources or motivation to adequately monitor patients progress post-prescription. Patients driven by various motivations also contribute to this crisis through evasive and deceptive behaviors such as doctor-shopping.(7) Even on a regional level, in a city like Baltimore, the news about buprenorphine does not reconcile with The New Republics description of a wonder drug. The Baltimore Sun reveals that a third to a half of the buprenorphine patients in area clinics flunked urine tests, indicating that they had been taking illegal or unauthorized drugs. People treated with suboxone do no better or worse than addicts on any other type of treatment, the article states.(8)

In addition, the Center for Substance Abuse Research (CESAR) at the University of Maryland at College Park, reports that more than half of buprenorphine-related emergency department visits in the U.S. are for nonmedical use of the drug, according to data from the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN). Of the estimated 23,450 emergency department visits in which buprenorphine was involved as either a direct cause or a contributing factor to the visit, 61% were for nonmedical use of the drug.(9) And finally, among teenagers and young adults treated in emergency rooms for any reason, 10.4 percent admit they have misused a prescription painkiller such as buprenorphine at least once in the last year.(10) Again, these factors all run counter to the New Republics use of the words wonder drug, given the health threats connected to buprenorphine.

For Johnny Tabaie, Johnny The Healer, (see also http://www.johnnythehealer.com/) the Founder of The Holistic Sanctuary, permanently ending addiction and eradicating dependency on suboxone and other drugs is a top priority, courtesy of his exclusive and natural solution known as the Pouyan Method. This treatment targets the origins of addiction, rejuvenating and restoring brain cells to their pre-addictive state.

Most importantly, Johnny does not classify or treat addiction as a lifelong, incurable disease, which requires daily consumption of several prescription medications (which have never been tested as a single unit, in their combined formulation), enrollment in 12-step programs, belittling duties like mopping floors or reliance on other antiquated and ineffective techniques. His inspiring video testimonials from guests are independent proof of his achievements. People can watch these inspiring stories at: theholisticsanctuary.com/Ibogaine-Videos/

Buprenorphine or suboxone is no way a wonder drug worthy of praise or increased popularization. It is, in truth, a potentially deadly drug, which is considerably more difficult to treat than dependency on heroin or other opiates. The New Republic does its readers a disservice by minimizing or outright dismissing the magnitude of this epidemic and its implications among people of all ages, including children. Use of suboxone is many things, ranging from physically harmful and emotionally debilitating to lethal, but is not a good drug, never mind a wondrous one, says Mr. Tabaie.

The Holistic Sanctuary Assails Showtimes Portrayal of Heroin Addiction and the Use of Ibogaine on Homeland

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 26, 2013

The Holistic Sanctuary announces its review and criticism of Showtimes latest episode of Homeland (Season 3, Episode 9; One Last Time), in which the character Nicholas Brody (played by Damian Lewis), a former U.S. Marine Sergeant and a revealed agent for al Qaeda, who is now in the protective custody of the CIA in Caracas, receives a sudden dose of Ibogaine to eliminate his addiction to heroin. The addiction, which is the result of the characters physical isolation and depression, is a stereotypical depiction of chemical dependency followed by cold turkey withdrawal and a scant, one-sided description of Ibogaine as a plant, which speeds up detox but gives users violent, mind-bending hallucinations, resulting in Brodys attempt to stab himself to death with a shard of a broken chair.

The Holistic Sanctuary takes issue with both the scientific accuracy of this episode and the networks failure to disclose, before or after the episodes conclusion, that the CIA cooperates with the show, providing a liaison to answer questions about CIA culture and practices. Nor does the episode advise viewers that consulting producer Henry Bromell is the son of a CIA agent, or that the Agency sponsored Ibogaine clinical trials in the fifties, though the results of those trials have never been disclosed.

For viewers unfamiliar with the severity of heroin addiction, the episode, in the professional opinion of the expert staff at The Holistic Sanctuary, does nothing to expose the enormity of this epidemic or the proper administration of Ibogaine, alongside the customized, safe and all-natural care necessary for a patient to properly heal from the effects of long-term chemical dependency. In fact, the episode never shows how or when Brody receives the Ibogaine treatment, with no mention of the dosage or course of treatment.

In the real world, however, heroin addiction continues to be a substantial problem. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), 4.2 million Americans aged 12 or older had used heroin at least once in their lives. The same study states that least 23 percent of individuals who use heroin become dependent on it. CBS News also reports that heroin addiction among young people is on a significant rise, with 669,000 new users in 2012. Their investigation coincides with findings of increased heroin use among affluent middle-class teens, while other spikes in less wealthy communities correspond to heroins appeal as a cheaper alternative to pills and opioid painkillers.

The numbers are even more alarming in a state like Ohio, which is a microcosm of the nation economically and culturally, where, sadly, an average of 11 people die from heroin overdoses each week in the Buckeye State. Attorney General Mike DeWine says that Ohio had 606 heroin-overdose deaths in 2012, double the number in 2010, and the final figures for 2013 will likely exceed those reports.

For Johnny Tabaie, Johnny The Healer, (see also http://www.johnnythehealer.com/) the Founder of The Holistic Sanctuary, permanently ending addiction and eliminating dependency on heroin and other drugs is a safe and healthy reality, thanks to his exclusive and natural solution known as the Pouyan Method. This treatment focuses on the origins of addiction, rejuvenating and restoring brain cells to their pre-addictive state.

In addition, Johnny does not categorize or describe addiction as a lifelong, incurable disease, which requires the consumption of multiple prescription medications (which have never been tested as a single, concentration), enrollment in 12-step programs, demeaning tasks or reliance on other outdated and ineffective techniques. His powerful video testimonials from guests are unsolicited proof of his accomplishments. People can watch these inspiring stories at: theholisticsanctuary.com/Ibogaine-Videos/.

Heroin addiction is an international crisis, worsened by conventional drug rehab centers and ignorance about the cause and severity of this condition. The most recent episode of Homeland does nothing to expose the personal or collective effects of this dependency. The depiction of Brody is just a cheap example of the addict-as-straw-man, in which a melodramatic character, sweating and wildly thrashing about, is the alleged face of heroin addiction. As for the terse words about Ibogaine, followed by Brodys hallucinations and botched suicide attempt, I want to remind people that the entertainment industry is no source for truth or medical accuracy. The Holistic Sanctuary understands this profound distinction, and encourages people to enjoy Homeland for its suspense, not its science, says Mr. Tabaie.

The Creativity Workshop to Hold Spring Workshops in Prague and Florence

New York, New York (PRWEB) December 21, 2013

Representatives with The Creativity Workshop announced today that it will hold workshops during the Spring of 2014 in Prague and Florence.

Ceci Glusman, spokesperson for The Creativity Workshop, said it will hold a workshop March 23 – 29 in Prague, and will meet for five days for three and a half hours per day.

Participants will have the rest of their time free to take in this breathtaking city, famous for its blocks of original Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings, Glusman pointed out.

Class, according to Glusman, will be held at Hotel Paris, which she described as a beautiful Art Nouveau building in Pragues historical center, in a section primarily open to pedestrians only.

From here, you will be within easy walking distance of Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, Glusman said, before adding, Many people who have taken the workshop say that it was a transformative experience, helping them to write their books, start new companies, complete long overdue projects, transition to rewarding retirements, and change the way they look at life.

Stephanie Satie, an actress and playwright from Los Angeles, confirmed Glusmans sentiments and went on to recommend the workshop to others.

The workshop was a wonderful celebration of our individual possibilities, Satie recalled. Everyone jumped in wholeheartedly and supported each other’s undertakings. One of the biggest surprises was the effect of drawing on my work and life. I’m one of those non-drawing people, but as I sketched, it helped me to see more and more. I can’t wait to take the workshop again. It is food for life.

In addition to the Prague workshop, Glusman noted that it will hold a March 31 – April 6 workshop in Florence.

The Florence workshop will also meet for five days, three and a half hours per day.

Attendees will have the rest of the time to meander around this breathtaking city, home of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Botticelli, Glusman said.

Class, according to Glusman, will be held at Hotel Montebello Splendid, located a few blocks from the Arno River and the Opera House, and a 15-minute walk to the Duomo (Florence’s Gothic cathedral) and the famous Uffizi Gallery.

Participants in the past have come from many different countries and professional fields, including business, education, psychology, the sciences, and the arts, Glusman said.

Heidi Lang, a teacher of gifted students at Falls Church City Public Schools in Falls Church, Va., said the Florence workshop is a life-changing experience for anyone who attends, just as it was for her.

The Florence Creativity Workshop taught me the value of sharing my ideas and work with others, Lang said. The observation exercises had me noticing all sorts of new things. In the past my rolls of film might have been filled with the typical pictures of the Duomo. The workshop changed all that. Now I’ve captured on film, or in writing, or simply in my memory, images of the delicate turn of a leaf, the petals of a hydrangea on a terra cotta terrace, the contrast of a freshly fallen lemon on a bed of grass.

Detox and body cleanses are often recommended to address a host of unwanted health symptoms, including general joint and muscle discomfort, stomach issues, and skin blemishes.
